Install Solar Hot Water in Brisbane – Rebates

Before installing solar water heating in Brisbane, Australia, there are a few things you should know in order to get the most out of the system. You can have cheap hot water delivered to your taps – all year long, get a council rebate and ensure the system will work for well over a decade.

Since the government is really pushing renewable energy, it’s important that you ensure you’re elligible for the rebates federal and local governement rebates.

Claim The Brisbane Solar Water Rebate

Did you know, as a Brisbane Resident, you may be entitled to a $400 rebate from Brisbane City Council? If you fit these criteria you should contact the council for an inspection of your solar hot water system sooner rather than later:

• You are replacing your exisiting electric or gas water heating with a solar system
• You live within and pay rates to Brisbane City Council
• The system is purchased for use in a Brisbane residential property
• The system is installed by a licensed plumber
• The solar hot water system qualifies for at least 20 Renewable Energy Certificates

There are in fact more criteria for eligability but these can be found in the Rebate Application Form. Just send this into the council and your system will be inspected to see if you qualify for the rebate.

Claim the Federal Government Solar Hot Water Rebate

There’s also a Federal Governement solar water rebate in Australia. Since solar hot water is the most efficient form of renewable distributed energy, the governement is willing to invest heavily in these systems. They currently offer a $1600 rebate on certain solar hot water systems.

The criteria for this rebate are basically the same but the system needs to be installed after February 3rd, 2009. FOr more information on these rebates just talk to a liscensed plumber, energy company or government representatives.
